I stayed with my girlfriend at Maison Schuler in September 2010. We had a great time staying there. We stayed in Suite Josephine which was perfect especially since the place had only just been renovated. I think we were one of the first people to stay in the room and everything was extremely comfortable and clean. The bed sheets were soft the en-suite bathroom was extremely well equipped especially the multi function shower.

Each morning we had a continental breakfast organised for us by the host which was delicious.

The area itself was well situated for us using our hire car we managed to visit a great deal of places within the region. Cognac is only 20mins away which is a beautiful town we also went to the coastal town of Royan which is very quaint and also has some nice beaches.

The local town of Saintes is also a very nice place to visit with the market selling fresh seafood. I recommend the oysters personally this is definitely the region for great oysters.

Moving a little further away we visited Bordeaux which is less than 1 hours drive away on the motorway. We decided to take the smaller roads which took a little bit longer but was worth it just for the more scenic route through all the picturesque towns and villages on the way.

On the way back from Bordeaux we decided to visit St Emilion which we had read about in a few guide books as worth a visit. The place was absolutely stunning with great history now protected as a world heritage site. If you like your wine then this is the place to go with all the boutique wine shops.

All in all our weeks holiday at Maison Schuler was fantastic and we could not recommend it highly enough.
